untitled

The Castiron bluegrass band was formed in Jan of 2003.  We were at a bluegrass festival in Davis Ok. in sept of 2002 and we were all jamming along with some oher people and this guy walked up with a flat iron mandolin, made by gibson. He ask what I thought about it and teasing him I told him it was just a hunk of castiron.

We began to meet and play, (jam) and discovered that we could play almost all day and never play the same one twice. As time went on we learned new songs (or new songs to us) and now we can play all day with out playing the same song twice, and different places wanted us to play for them, and we did. We have played several festival and monthly blue grass shows in Oklahoma City.

Mike plays and sings lead and harmony for the group. Mike and his wife April own and run a tractor sales and repair place. The have three children, two girls and one boy.

Hiram is a retired barber and his wife Carol is a retired school teacher. Now they just sit and listen to bluegrass music all day. They have two girls plus grand kids

Armon is a rancher he raises wheat, cows, and has show pigs. His wife Jane works for the oklahoma school district. They have 3 boys plus grand kids.

Bobby is a retired from the Air Force and also retired trucker.  He and his wife Kay have two boys and 5 grand kids.

Mike, Hiram and I,Bobby plays more than one instrument, so we have a good time of playing, gossiping, and eating each time we get together.  We do this as a hobby, as you can see from above some is still working.

We also have made two cd's. we didnt try to put them on the big market, but we have sold enough to pay for making them, thats all we wanted, just to say we did, and some of the songs are on the web site, hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed making them.
